The Easter Egg Market in the Odenwald and toy Museum, Michelstadt
Michelstadt, a lovely 12th century town in the Odenwald, is located just one hour distance from Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Heidelberg.
Taking place in the 32 Year, the Easter Egg Market in Michelstadt is one of the oldest and most well known Easter egg markets in Germany.
50 exhibitors come from different parts of Germany come to take part in this beautiful show case for any concievable type of decorated Egg art. Here one can find different traditional styles and techniques alongside with original modern creations. In addition to artfully transformed natural eggs, you will also find egg art incorporating different materials such as porcelain, wood, glass and more.
Many of the egg artists also demonstrate their technique and work process to the public, and all of them will gladly answer all your questions.
For those who like the natural look – you will find a vast selection of natural eggs at hand: finch, quail, partridge, goose, duck, and ostrich eggs just to name a few.
In addition to decorated eggs, you will also find original Easter decorations, children’s books and special attraction for the whole family and especially for your little ones is the breeding demonstration. In a special space, you can watch tiny chicks hatching out of the eggs.
People come from far away to enjoy the Easter Egg market as part of the spring celebration in Michelstadt. The town is also decorated for the Easter season at that time. Enjoy a stroll through the charming streets of this picturesque medieval town with its unique Rathaus (the oldest town hall in Germany, dated back to 1484) and the many little shops full of surprises. Among other attractions for the family is the toy museum.
