International Easter Egg Market in Maulbronn monastery
Whatever you can possibly imagine to do with decorated eggs: you will find it all here, in one of Germany’s most beautiful and exquisite Easter Egg markets. Works by 50 of the finest German and International egg artists are presented to the public in one of the first egg shows of the season.
Egg artists from Switzerland, Russia, Hungary, all come together alongside with their German colleagues in this magnificent historical location and present some 5000 decorated eggs on exhibition and for sale.
From small finch eggs up to big, solid ostrich eggs – every kind of egg produced by our feathered friends is turned into art pieces, big and small. The results are as versatile as the eggs themselves. Here you will also find egg art using different materials such as porcelain, wood, glass and stone. As the Egg artists present their works, they also demonstrate their techniques and work process and gladly answer all your questions.
For those who like the natural look – there is a vast selection of finch, quail, partridge, goose, duck, swan and ostrich eggs. Also available are natural colors and dyes, as well as traditional items and special decorations for the season.
The egg market takes place in the “Fruchtkasten” hall of Maulbronn monastery (the former harvest storage barn).
Explore the impressive 12th century monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and experience the special atmosphere of this famous place.
Guided tours through the monastery take place daily at 11.15 and 15.00 o’clock.
Maulbronn is located between Heilbronn, Stuttgart and Heidelberg and can be easily reached on the highway and through the lovely Kreichgau.
